Graham Robert Rahal (built-in January 4, 1989) is an American race car commuter and small business possessor. He currently participates in the IndyCar Series with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, a team partially endemic by his father Bobby Rahal, the winner of the 1986 Indianapolis 500.
Racing career [edit]
Early racing [edit]
In 2005, he won the Formula Atlantic class at the SCCA Runoffs and finished fourth in Star Mazda Series standings. He moved to a total-time ride in the Champ Car Atlantic Series in 2006, where he won v races and finished second in the season standings. He also drove in the Indy Pro Series outcome on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in conjunction with the 2006 United States One thousand Prix and finished 2d. SpeedTV reported in August 2006 that Rahal would drive for Newman/Haas Racing in the Gnaw Automobile World Serial in 2007.[ane]
2007 [edit]
On January 27 Rahal drove in the 24 Hours of Daytona. One of four drivers of the Southard Motorsports Lexus Riley, the machine ran into early troubles and finished 62nd out of 70 entries. On March 18, he drove in the 12 Hours of Sebring American Le Mans Series race for his father's Rahal Letterman Racing squad. He drove a Porsche 911 GT3-RSR with two other drivers, finishing 6th in the GT2 class and 15th overall.
On March 27 news reports from the previous summertime were confirmed when he was announced every bit the second commuter for Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing in the Champ Car World Series[2] and collection the No. ii Panoz DP01 sponsored by MEDI|ZONE alongside his teammate, three-time series champion Sébastien Bourdais. With the creation of a single American open-wheel racing serial for 2008, Rahal and the Newman/Haas/Lanigan squad became role of the IndyCar Series, including Rahal's starting time Indianapolis 500.
He missed the Gainsco Automobile Insurance Indy 300 due to a crash in testing, after which his team could not get his motorcar repaired in time for the race. He fabricated his series debut at the 2nd race of the flavour, the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and despite an early spin in the race, Rahal won the race by 3.5192 seconds from the two-time defending winner of the race, Hélio Castroneves. He became the youngest[iii] person at the time to win a major American open-wheel race – anile 19 years, 93 days – and the 4th to win in his first appearance in the IndyCar Serial. The best finish Rahal would manage the remainder of the year was a pair of 8th place finishes at Watkins Glen and Sonoma; he finished 17th in points, 4th among series rookies.
2009 [edit]
Rahal returned to Newman/Haas/Lanigan for the 2009 IndyCar Series, taking over the No. 02 motorcar with McDonald'due south as his sponsor. He began the flavour by taking pole position at Saint petersburg, his showtime in his IndyCar career, thus becoming the youngest ever polesitter aged twenty years, xc days. This was the first time a Rahal had won an IndyCar pole since his father started first at Toronto in 1992, which was Bobby'south third in a row that season.[four] He finished seventh later on damaging the machine in a first-lap crash. On June ten, 2010, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced the signing of Rahal for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway, filling in for the injured Mike Conway in the No. 24 entry on a ane-off footing. Rahal returned to Newman/Haas Racing for 6 of the remaining 8 races of the 2010 flavor, starting with Toronto, and returned to Sarah Fisher Racing for the Kentucky Speedway race. Rahal'south 2010 totals included 12 starts for four teams and a 20th-place stop in points.
On Oct 10, 2010, Rahal finished runner-upwardly at the RoboPong 200 all-star kart event at the New Castle Motorsports Park with teammate Conor Daly.[8]
2011–2012 [edit]
Rahal signed to bulldoze the No. 38 car for Chip Ganassi Racing with Service Primal sponsorship beginning in 2011 as the squad expanded from two to four cars and continued with the team into 2012.[9]
Rahal, co-collection the No. 01 TELMEX/Target Bit Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates motorcar to victory in the Rolex 24 at Daytona along with Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, and Joey Hand. It came xxx years afterwards his father, Bobby won the race, partnering with Brian Redman and Bob Garretson.
2013–2020 [edit]

Rahal opened Graham Rahal Functioning (GRP), in May 2017 and has grown the business organization from an automotive tuning and parts shop to including exotic machine sales. GRP is based in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Graham is likewise a junior partner with Bobby Rahal Automotive Grouping, a network of car dealerships in western and central Pennsylvania.

Rahal was born in Columbus, Ohio. He attended New Albany school systems in Ohio and graduated in June 2007 with plans to nourish Denison University. Rahal is a die-hard Ohio Land fan and enjoys NHL hockey and golf. He is a car enthusiast and owns a growing Ducati collection.
Rahal is married to former NHRA drag racer Courtney Force, daughter of xvi-time NHRA drag racing champion and fable John Forcefulness.[12] In May 2020, the pair announced they were expecting their kickoff child; in Nov she gave birth to a girl, Harlan Ann Rahal.[13]
Rahal started the Graham Rahal Foundation in 2009 to back up Alex's Lemonade Stand up for Childhood Cancer and The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps (known as SeriousFun Children's Network every bit of April 2012).[14] In 2019, Rahal and married woman Courtney Forcefulness took on the foundation in a joint effort, irresolute the name to Graham & Courtney Rahal Foundation (GCRF).
